I can not understand how we can sit back and watch the government bail these big companies out with our money. These “High Ranking” people making so many millions of dollars, should be responsible for there own actions! Company loses money, so should the people at the top. Why are these “High Ranking” people not taking pay cuts? How many small businesses in this country are failing month by month? Business failures have increased by 28 percent in the past three months. Just in the past quarter 6,000 businesses closed up shop! Who is going to bail those people out? Who is going to bail out the people struggling to stay afloat week by week, day to day?
I can not sit here and watch this massive chaos unfold in front of my eyes every day any more. Our government is in such a panic mode it is quite possible we could face the biggest economic disaster in American history. Why are not more people speaking out about this crisis? We have become so blind in our society to the fact that we let big corporations run our government. This has been going on for far too long! So long that it has ruined our entire American infrastructure. Small businesses are this countries foundation. Far more small companies are failing than big corporations in this country. The facts are in front of Americans but we choose to ignore it.
I believe as well as many people I talk with agree, we should have a say in where our money goes. If a corporation is in trouble they should be responsible for cutting costs at the top. While these mega corporations lay people off, “High Ranking” people leave comfortably, riding off into the meadow of money. The “little guy” is left with mounting bills and a house in possible foreclosure. Not to mention the “little guy” has a wife and two kids and a dog named Max. Pretty soon that HDTV he or she bought three years ago isn’t broadcasting in HD anymore. That Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition parked in the driveway isn’t so convenient any more. We as American were doing pretty well for a little while. All of the sudden, or not so sudden, we watch our wallets get thinner and our politicians, banks, and mega corporation’s wallets get fatter. The Senate Leadership Majority Leader yearly salary is $188,100. Speaker of the house receives $217,400. House majority leader receives the same as senate leadership. Not to mention the money they receive from “donations” and “fundraisers”. In 2007, the annual household income was $50,233.00 according to the Census Bureau. While the fellas in Washington sit in their mansions or summer home, or winter retreat, we as American are faced every week with mounting debt.
We have allowed politicians and CEO’s get richer while “We the People” get a hell of a lot poorer. It is no longer a government for the people by the people. It has become a government for the government by the corporations. Seriously sit back and look at the whole picture and see what we have become. We may be in for some even worse times then we are seeing now, and the future doesn’t look pretty.
If the “Big Three” collapses, then so be it. They had plenty opportunity to change their ways. In stead they continued to produce vehicles that Americans were no longer driving. Companies like Honda are producing vehicles in the southern United States cheaper than GM and the others. GM is basically bleeding money right now with their costs much higher than profits. It has to end somewhere. Some predict GM will go bankrupt by February or March if nothing is done. So what. File bankruptcy and lick your wounds. Cut the “High Ranking” peoples salary and hefty bonuses and rebuild your infrastructure. Why delay the inevitable.
Last month one in every four hundred some houses were in foreclosure. The government had the bright idea of a huge bail out package. Now this week they do a complete 180 and basically say “we were wrong” and they want to give out the money in another way and no longer planned to buy up the troubled mortgage assets. What is going on in our government? Who are the “Peoples” representation any more? Sounds pretty familiar doesn’t it? Our government represents themselves and finds more ways to get richer. They pass bills every year voting on raising their salaries. Things need to be fixed and voices need to be heard! We no longer have real representation in our government. Things better change, and soon, because we are in for some tough times ahead.
